THE GOOD
We're again offering our delicious conventional grain-fed chickens, as well as organic chickens – raised the same, but fed only 100% certified organic feed.
Our growing practices are the same. Chickens will be raised all-natural and outdoors free-range on pasture, with a target dressed weight of 5-6 lbs.
At pick-up, they will be fresh (i.e., unfrozen) and vacuum-sealed to preserve moisture and flavour, as well as eliminate risk of freezer burn. Reminder that pick-up means at our farm on the same day they are processed at a provincially certified abattoir.
THE NOT SO GOOD
As much as it pains us, we have no choice but to raise prices about $1 per chicken. For 2024, prices are $5.95/lb for conventional and $7.95/lb for organic.
Why? Although commodity prices have levelled off, the feed company has already made us aware of increased prices for the new season. Something about increased wages and fuel costs. The abattoir has also notified us of an increased processing cost of $.50/chicken.

- Conventional - June 24 and October 18
- Organic - June 26 and October 21

Welcome to KemptvilleChicks!
We’re the Millson family and our farm is located at 163 Muldoon Road in Kemptville. We’ve lived in the area for almost 30 years, at our current address since 2006. This is our seventh year as part of the Artisanal Chicken program certified by the Chicken Farmer’s of Ontario. We’re proud to offer local, all-natural, free-range, pasture-raised conventional and non-certified organic chickens that have a choice to eat grass and bugs or grain-only feed – or both! We believe in raising happy, healthy chickens for our customers and for our family.
