We are again offering our delicious conventional grain-fed chickens, as well as organic chickens – raised the same, but fed only 100% certified organic feed.
Our growing practices are the same. Chickens will be raised all-natural and outdoors free-range on pasture, with a target dressed weight of 5-6 lbs. They will be fresh (i.e., unfrozen) at pick-up, which means you pick-up at our farm on the same day they are processed (at a provincially certified abattoir).
As we’re sure you’re well aware, inflation plus the Russian invasion has been playing havoc on the feed grain markets. Prices are up 25% or more over the past few weeks alone, and concerns remain they will stay elevated for months. As well, the hatchery and abattoir have raised their prices this year. What fun for planning!
We unfortunately had to bump our prices to keep afloat. We’re willing to share the cost burden, and hopefully next year when things are really truly back to “normal”, we can revisit. Prices for the new season are $5.75/lb for conventional and $7.50/lb for organic. (Chickens are vacuum-sealed to preserve moisture and flavour, as well as eliminate risk of freezer burn).
As always, feel free to let your family, friends, neighbours and even strangers know about Kemptville Chicks. Shares on facebook are also certainly appreciated.

Debi and John P.
We’re the Millson family and our farm is located at 163 Muldoon Road in Kemptville. We’ve lived in the area for almost 30 years, at our current address since 2006. This is our fifth year as part of the Artisanal Chicken program certified by the Chicken Farmer’s of Ontario. We’re proud to offer local, all-natural, free-range, pasture-raised conventional and non-certified organic chickens that have a choice to eat grass and bugs or grain-only feed – or both! We believe in raising happy, healthy chickens for our customers and for our family.
